Rectangular bamboo cutting board with engraved design. Measures 11 x 9 x 0.4 inches. Bamboo is a sustainable wood. It reaches maturity in just 3-5 years, and while it grows, bamboo is better at absorbing carbon from the atmosphere than other tree varieties. Bamboo groves release 35% more oxygen than most tree species and can absorb up to 12% of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Bamboo harvesting produces less waste than traditional tree harvesting. Roots, leaves, and even the dust created from harvesting bamboo can be used for fertilizers, compost, and more.
Aimee Terravechia is the artist and creative director behind Catchpenny. After leaving her corporate job in 2018, she started Catchpenny to begin doing what she loved best: working with her hands. She opened up the doors to a brick-and-mortar location in 2019 in her hometown--a rural community in New Hampshire with a once-vibrant downtown. When Aimee isn't making new items, she's volunteering in her community. Catchpenny has been a proud community sponsor of several nonprofits and is committed to paying employees a living wage.
